The nursery (next to the rainbow room) will be available for parents who may need a place
to go with a younger child (it is not staffed).
We have a heart for children and we are building a "Field of Dreams" of sorts. Beginning
Sunday, February 21st and continuing every Sunday in Lent through Easter, April 4th, we
are offering Christian Education for children in Maitland Hall. Teams of two shepherds will
guide the formation experience for childen, including storytelling from the Children's Bible,
followed by creative activities such as coloring and singing. This experience will run
concurrently with the start of the 10 am service. The children will return to the church to
celebrate the Eucharist with the congregation.
Good Shepherd is offering a series of studies for parishioners and the community at
large. The Thoughtful Christian is an Episcopalian web-based study format ranging
from one to seven sessions. Topics will vary and cover a wide range of topics from
Politics and Religion to Health Care Reform. Each session has EFM graduates to
lead and facilitate the discussion.
EFM (Education for Ministry) is a program of theological education-at-a-distance of the School of Theology of the University of the South. Students sign up one year at a time for this four year program. It covers the basics of a theological education in the Old and New Testaments, church history, liturgy and theology. Students meet weekly, in seminars under the guidance of trained mentors. EFM is for the student who wants to dig deeper into the Christian faith. It trains you to think theologically, expands your faith and your understanding of our Christian heritage, and provides you with confidence to be Christ's minister.
