Godly Play is rooted in ancient storytelling and the educational theory and practice founded by Dr. Maria Montessori. It is an imaginative approach to working with children, an approach that supports, challenges, nourishes and guides their spiritual quest. In Godly Play, it invites listeners into the parables and sacred stories to encourage them to connect the stories with personal experience. It is a way of preparing children to join in the worship and life of their congregations and to develop a deeper understanding of Bible stories, symbols and rites.
